Meeting Harrison Ford
Whether it’s Star Wars ,Indiana Jones or the dozen other iconic roles he’s played, everyone knows Harrison Ford. His signature is considered a “Must Have” for any serious Entertainment Autograph Collector. He remains very active in the business and is constantly out and about filming & promoting his upcoming projects, (which is great if you’re a collector because it presents opportunities to meet him.)
My most recent encounter with Mr. Ford was in March of 2016 in New York City. I heard that he was on the list for an event in the city but wasn’t sure if he was going to actually attend, or if he was going to appear via satellite. Sure enough, he showed up. The first couple days in town he was very accomodating to autograph seekers. As long as everyone remained civil and lined up, he would gladly sign 1 thing per person.
Mr.Ford was incredibly generous with his time even taking photos with some fans if the situation presented itself. It was an ideal situation since he didn’t really have any business to attend to or any schedule to keep. Since he had lots of free time, it allowed for better encounters for sure. Normally when he is working or promoting he doesnt have much time to stop and sign for fans, so dont be upset if you meet him and he doesnt sign. In general I think he really gets it though and will take the time to sign if he can.
After the first few days in town Mr.Ford stopped signing. He wanted to enjoy his time in the city without being bothered. Since he already signed quite a bit, I thought that was a totally reasonable request. It was unfortunate for those who missed him, but that’s the name of the game. You have to be there when the “Ink is flowing.”
